Service Is Your Unique Selling Point
by Mark Midas
If you sell a product in a market thats saturated with competitors (such as web hosting or domain names) then price is no longer the #1 selling point. Its service...
Think about it. In web hosting theres too many competitors. The market is over saturated. Most new customers signup to a host from a word of mouth or online referral and very rarely do they change hosts once theyve found a good one. What keeps them there? I bet 9 times out of 10 its the service and support of the hosting company.
If you sell a commoditized (is that even a word?) product, how does your service and/or support stand up against your competitors? I know we try to go above and beyond the expectations of every single customer, and although I think we have the best web site optimization software available - yes, Im bias ;) - I still count our personal, timely service and support as one of the main reasons why were doing so well.
Next time you get a customer complaint remember that the average person will tell 10 people about their bad experience. How can you turn a frustrated customer into an evangelist for your product?
